Hannah, Sammie, Timmy and Carly. WOW – What a wonderful, sweet bunch! Ranging in ages from 12 to 7, The Dicapo children approached this summer with anticipation and excitement upon having their wish come true for a trip to Joni and Friends International Disability Center. Located in Navasota, Texas, Joni and Friends is a marvelous retreat/camp for special needs children that offers programs and activities that refresh and strengthen children who live with disability. Joni and Friends provides a safe and accepting environment where the children can play, explore and have fun with other children from around the country who face similar challenges.

The Dallas Chapter was pleased to learn about the DiCapo children’s story and their one special wish for the summer. The Chapter solicited and quickly assembled a team of volunteers to begin work on the Dicapo wish which consisted of a surprise pizza party/meet and greet at the children’s favorite restaurant, Campisi’s in Rockwall, Texas and presentation of their wish for a trip down to Joni and Friends.

Thinking they were only going out for a leisurely family dinner, the Dicapo kids were overwhelmed with excitement and surprise upon entering the pizzeria and being greeted with a resounding “SURPRISE!!” echoed by the Wish team and Campisi’s restaurant staff as onlookers who were dining in the restaurant smiled. The Dicapo kids had a blast at their party as they entered the special area where the wish team and restaurant staff prepared for them; Complete with decorations and goodies for the kids, they enjoyed dining on their favorite pizza’s. Before ending the festivities, the Dicapo kids were presented their wish and provided gift bags full of trinkets for their road trip down to Joni and Friends!
