Gerardo’s wish team worked on an amazing wish that included a trip to California to enjoy Disneyland and see his Grandfather, whom he loves deeply and cannot see very often.

When Gerardo’s family arrived in Disney Land, they were provided an envelope at the front desk at the Marriott hotel from our partners, Kristie’s Foundation. Included in the envelope were tickets for the family of 6 to Disneyland for two days and Universal Studios for one day. Kristies’ Foundation provided discounted tickets and the hotel stay including free breakfasts. The family truly enjoyed their magical experience at Disneyland, and the boys didn’t want to come back home. The second day at Disney, the family was met by our California Pioneers who walked through the park with them to make sure they had seen all the age appropriate rides and events. Gerardo enjoyed meeting Mickey Mouse. Donald Duck and Minnie Mouse autographed the brim of Gerardo’s cap.

A few weeks later, Gerardo’s wish team met at his home to clear furniture and paint his room his favorite color of light blue. They organized his books, shoes, and desk area, hung new curtain rods and curtains. The wish team brought in a new night stand with a small lamp to be used as a night light. His new “horse themed” bedspread, twin bed, and decorative accessories were added.

On Saturday, July 25th, Gerardo enjoyed his 5th Birthday Party, his very first party! He had always been too ill to have a celebration. The birthday party was “Spider-man” themed, in line with his favorite superhero.
